Raised in Texas, Michael Burnett grew up skateboarding, a passion which eventually brought him out to California where he joined Thrasher Magazine in 1997 as a staff writer and photographer. Editor in Chief of Thrasher since 2019, Burnett is also the creator and Executive Producer of King of the Road, which aired on Vice TV for three seasons, 2016-2018. A love for documentaries inspired him to create the feature-length film Grindland with the Thrasher team in 2022, as well a numerous shorts including Cordano Russell - Skater XXL and Fahrenheit 540: the Story of the McTwist. Burnett is Thrasher’s longest-running editorial staffer and has shot over 100 covers. In 2021 he guided the storied publication through its 40th anniversary and then, in 2022, it’s 500th issue … and still going strong. Burnett’s commercial clients include Apple, Vans, Nike, Converse, Red Bull, Monster, Volcom, RVCA, Baker, Toy Machine and many more.
